The new employment numbers are demonstrating near zero economic growth. After seasonal adjustments are taken out (and how on earth it is that they have been added to year over year numbers is beyond me) and the birth adjustment (which is assumed but not actually existing jobs based on a model that works in normal economic times and is not adjusted for poor economic times) is removed from the yearly figures, we're seeing a hundred thousand jobs for the year. That's about the level of job creation the US needs to see per month to keep actual jobs per capita level considering its increasing population.
In short, jobs per capita continues to fall... But on a positive note, installed prices of solar power continue to fall at such a rapid rate that installed grid parity projections are being moved up to 2017, the average unemployed person with a neighbor with an unsecured wireless access point has access to more education and entertainment at absolutely no cost than the wealthiest people in New York did even fifty years ago at any cost, and our problem seems to be more one of having more capacity than there is need for than the other way around. Having less capacity than there is need for is no problem whatsoever intellectually and a very hard problem practically speaking. Having more capacity than there is demand for runs counter to human understanding, and so is a very difficult intellectual problem, but no problem whatsoever practically speaking. I'd rather have ours.
Mr. Perfect,
I believe that the American people will make the correct decision and begin to reduce the burdensome cost of government. I think they will do this not because they have changed, because they have not, but because it is now so cheap and effortless to be informed, thanks to the information age, that more and more people are informed and corruption is simply harder to hide. Corruption, at least incompetent corruption, is on its way out. Unfortunately, the trend of government overspending will continue until it cannot continue for an instant longer, and it will not end a second sooner.
Trends that can't continue, won't. But until then, they will.
