The entire framework of basing our culture off of jobs is obsolete. Raising the retirement age doesn't help if there are not enough jobs to go around as it is.
And it's not just the extension of lifespan, but the increases in automated production that are fueling this.
People are living longer, and there are fewer and fewer jobs that need doing.
