CS, you may not be aware, but "The Jungle" was a work of fiction, a novel, and is not history. In fact, it is a novel written by an open socialist openly promoting socialism. It is a propaganda piece. I cannot think of one reason it should be in a US school, other than if it had some great literary value which I can't recall anyone claiming.
It is historical in the sense that it influenced history, but the contents of the book can't be considered history anymore than the contents of a Tom Clancy novel.

Mr. Perfect can add Historical Fiction to the broad list of topics that he doesn't understand I suppose. Everyone else in the world realizes that historical fiction didn't literally happen, that it's BASED off of real conditions, but that the particular account of the particular characters is fictionalized.
It's such an idiotic mindset to have, to think that everything was fine, that people woke up in the American Utopia and randomly decided they hated it and needed to denigrate it any chance they got.
