I believe the US had had productive back-channel communications with Ahmadinejad for some time. Iran is playing Arafat's old role of being the bugbear to scare Israeli and US citizens.
It's about keeping the current political players in power. All three countries current governments by this strategy, and it keeps the rest of the Arab world off balance. Hillary, Netanyahu and Ahmadinejad are fussing in public but having dinner parties behind the scenes.
All three politicians require fear by the general public to survive, and all would be replaced should peace break out. So we all get Kabuki theater in the media, and the populace is driven to the hawkish side of things.

The last bastion of Australian television media free from Homeland interference was running the story it was shot down. The propoganda is getting so thick that they can construct it without any relationship to the image, as any retard can see that Drone was not shot down.
