Is it possible the drone was "delivered" to Iran as part of some great power deal? Or some sort of CIA pseudo-trick?

A drone could have suffered a mechanical or uplink failure and, being pretty aerodynamic, drifted and crashed lightly in pretty much one piece. There are so many of these things whizzing about that its surprising that this doesn't happen more often.

The danger of losing one to a technically proficient enemy is that they will get a great look at their transmission equipment and anti-jamming/EMP shielding. But even so I don't think Iran is in a position to do much with it. They'll probably hand it over to China or Russia for a favor to be named later or a 7th round draft pick.

There is a reason why drones would be made to glide when control is lost. Transmission interference. You DON'T want it crashing, even if it breaks apart.

I wonder how much the Chinese will pay for it.

If this hacking thing is true then US military superiority in Hardware becomes not so great overnight, because without eyes the battlefield flattens back to a Korean war plateau.

Maybe instead of putting hackers in jail we should have been employing them.

IMVHO, America should immediately offer some urgently needed things to Iranians and get the drone back

let's say 100 Boeing 777 (not for free, Iranian will pay the sticker price)

Iran could accept this

It would imply some door openings

but

time is of the essence .. before the Chinese and Putin get hands on it
