Personally, considering genetic factors and the gastric flora/ fauna which are particular to time and place, I would support someone eating a batshit - and- Fruit Loops diet, if it produces results. The key is health. If people are healthy eating sawdust, they can go full- tilt termite, if they want to. More BBQ for me.

i do actually put wood in my food from time to time - especially when ive been eating crap and not walking enough.

The only harm I see is monetary, paying for food and getting something that is partly not food.
But I would like to see evidence of actual bodily harm, I don't think there is anything there.
