Zaïs, L'ouverture (from Symphonie imaginaire) – Jean-Philippe Rameau (1682-1764) ; Musiciens du Louvre-Grenoble directed by Marc Minkowski
Minkowski has arranged a selection of ballet and incidental music from Rameau’s operas and a few adaptations from his harpsichord works into an “imaginary” symphony, in much the same way that Respighi used Rossini’s music to create ‘La Boutique fantastique’, by now a famous piece in its own right.
