As they are allowed to be criminals nobody should be surprised when they are.
This is another platform for Occupy, change the exemption.
I don't believe in getting something for nothing thus I propose that members of Congress get a wage that reflects somehing closer to their importance and power, closer than $185000 anyway, $500000 is more like it and it lowers the drive to grift.
They get $500000 a year and no more campaign bribes.
The idea that it is some sort of honour is just a scam to lower the wage and it takes it out of the realm of a profession, which people are dreaming if they think it's not. It is a job and the minute people see it as something else it moves into another 'realm' unhindered by common law and Grifting breaks out.
A Politician requires a certain skill set and should be paid according to the value of this skill set to our Society.

Oh please. Having a salary of 5 times the median income is more than adequate. It's called, PUBLIC SERVICE. You are either called to public service or you're not.
