Ron Paul debating Obama is going to be near impossible to manage by any moderator. Not that there would be fisticuff, far from it. It's just that Paul simply does not give a damn to be herded on stage. It's why moderators simply pass over and ignore him in debates. And Obama is simply not going to let that slide, he would engage it and go off message because he's smart enough to do it and frankly, would have to.

It would still re-elect Obama, but yes, conversations all over America would change.

The only hope of Obama winning is if the GOP nom does not attack on policy.

If the GOP nom (even if it is a reincarnated Robert Downey) eviscerates him on Health Care, TARP, Stimulus, employment, cash for clunker type programs, Debt, Waste, Fraud, energy policy, the QE fleet, T&A/TSA, AFG, Robert Downey will win by 10 points. Keep it on Obama's record and he's finished, by anybody.

If they don't Obama has a chance. But that is his only chance.

Well the thing is Cain is bringing up a lot of issues that Ron Paul has just thought about much more thoroughly than Cain. So as Cain melts down, it's going to leave Paul as the only candidate who really inhabits the space that Cain's messaging opened up.

Cain has no problem with increasing Military spending and more overseas wars making him more acceptable to the 44 states who will gain jobs from the manufacture of the Lightning2, just those votes alone are significant.

The Romney vs. Obama campaign will be teeth-grindingly boring, but one of the few interesting details for me in seeing how much anti-Mormonism is a factor in American culture. The whole existence of Mormonism flies below my radar, I know exponentially more about e.g. Ancient Egyptian religion than thus huge, growing, Made in America religious movement.

Since I'll be doing the right thing next Nov. and voting for a third-party candidate -- I'd like to point out that if Schwarzenegger boffing the hired help was any indication, NO ONE is going to care about this -- the Right isn't about buy it, and the rest are too jaded to care. Nothing's shocking.

Another woman who the party(ies) dig up for effect -- it wasn't important enough when the harassment happened, but now it's a vital insight into the candidate. Maybe it's a vital insight to the accuser and the rank, putrified intellectual state of party politics in America.

All this set against the backdrop of the insanity of believing anything will be materially different, even given a complete party shift in the presidency with supermajorities in Congress.
