I would wholeheartedly agree that the Reps are defunct as aby sort of a moral force. The machine they created, however, is not just alive but ferocious. That is what you will not beat at the box for those ten years. They will pick up funding and allies and influence over this stretch like never before. The Dems are still pretty good for MICC business, but nobody feeds the bulldog like the Reps.

Politics is war by other means. You are mounting a rally after what should have been a major, breakthrough offensive ( Obama) crumbled and sputtered. Obama is MacClellan in 1862. The opposition took advantage of a disorganized and incoherent bulge in their lines, mounted a strong counterattack to your flank, and has now successfully cut off the advancing troops( the ideologically coherent OWS types) from their follow on reinforcement and logistics( the Democratic party).

I am telling you- you are surrounded and ten miles behind the front, which has closed in behind you and cut you off in a classic envelopment. The front is retreating away from you as collective consciousness is rolled back by corporate interests. I could illustrate this all much better on a sand table.

If Obama is MacC in '62, you and your peers are Puller at the Chosin. You are now in deep winter, many days road march from friendly lines, and there are hordes of Chicoms, breaking land speed records to come choke you out.

This was the time, however, when Puller was quoted with saying two things, both indicative of the man. "Retreat, hell. We're just fighting towards the rear ". Even more pertinent to you, though, was the second quote:" They've got us surrounded, the poor bastards. Now we got them where we want them". The weather cleared, Marine and Naval air sunk in, and Puller saved his men, possibly South Korea. Had he and the First rolled up and been rolled over, that would possibly have finished the American presence, even made for nukes.

All your other ties are your air support. It better show in spades for you to win this fight. If you get anything less than a miraculous synthesis going, the Red machine will drive you out of the land mass. You will have to redo Inchon against a prepared enemy. You can out- idea and out- develop all you want, but if it doesn't translate into votes, you have nothing but those outside channels. What they are capable of is highly in doubt.
