Agreed on nearly all points ST, except this is a bigger GOP victory then you are allowing for. You will have a big bone to pick with Tinker overall. I can only say that I did believe that the eventual outcome was going too happen. Been here before, saw the first movie, recognized what was different this time. The Democrats painted themselves into the corner absolutely. I watched every stroke of the brush.

John Boner will go down as one of the greatest politicians of all time. My hat is off, and I would do anything for that man.

Nothing better is possible with Dem control of the Senate and the WH. A spending freeze agreement is not possible. Boner took the tools available to him and got maximum results.

The downgrades are coming, SP/Moody's have said as much. The GOP has indeed set the precedent for spending cuts, they will do them. If people vote in GOP majorities this is now what you expect from the GOP. This is part of the brand, as the kids say. Part of the package. This indeed is just the beginning. We will be cutting spending the rest of our lives, this was the first salvo.

One of the great things about this deal is enough conservatives are mad that they will feel the righteous anger giving them permission to keep pushing for a spending freeze. I love it.

Thanks for finding the number on what a spending freeze will be (9 trillion), that will come in handy.
