At least two terrorists behind Norwegian youth camp massacre - witnesses

Witnesses of Friday's mass killings in the Norwegian youth camp say there were two terrorists as the shootings were coming from "two different places on the island at the same time," Norwegian VG paper reported on Saturday.

At least 92 people were killed in two separate attacks in Norway on Friday. Seven people reported to be killed in a bomb explosion at a government headquarters in Oslo and 85 were killed in a shooting at a youth summer camp on the Utoya island, near the capital.

Several young people who survived Utoya's massacre, told VG paper that the shootings were coming from "two different places on the island at the same time."
"I believe that there were two people who were shooting," VG quoted a 23-year old Alexander Stavdal.

Norwegian police arrested on Friday a 32-year-old ethnic Norwegian, Anders Behring Breivik, who is believed to be behind the attack.

Norwegian media on Saturday attributed a long and hate-filled YouTube video featuring tirades against Islam, Marxism and multiculturalism to the man behind the massacre of 92 people in twin attacks.

Oslo police could not immediately comment on whether the culprit Anders Behring Breiving, 32, was behind the 12-minute video that alternates between praise for Medieval Crusaders and Islamophobic rants. The film was removed from YouTube late on Saturday for not conforming to the website's rules from the originally uploaded channel, shows Behring Breiving in three photographs, including one where he aims an assault rifle.

The video was put on YouTube on the same day and describes Islam as ‘the main genocidal ideology’.

"Before beginning our Crusade, we must do our duty by decimating cultural Marxism," reads one of the texts that appear in the video.

Norwegian daily Dagbladet said the film is a summary of a reported 1,500 word manifesto that Behring Breiving told police he had published under the pseudonym Andrew Berwick.

Friday's attacks targeted left-wing symbols: the seat of the Labour-led government and a Labour Party youth camp.

It's kind of interesting the difference between this forum and another more 'mundane' forum that I frequent. People like to conceptualize the entire thing in these terms of the guy being a frothing psychopath, a kind of dada idiot like Jared Loughner. The notion that a guy like this can be rational seems terrifying to them.

Questions like, "What brings a man to target children?", come up from people who cannot understand why that is a strategically sound objective if your goal is to fuck up the left. In a country as small as Norway, killing 90 future left-wing politicians will indeed further one's goal.

Of course he probably didn't realize that the left won't disappear, it will only pull kids from the ranks of a far less Conservative elite, so he has probably advanced the cause of cultural Marxism a great deal.

This extract from Breivik's video is a clear summary of his motivation:


The great question is whether we are looking at an awful, yet isolated incident. Or whether Breivik will truly have the followers he is hoping for.

Bin Laden hoped for the WTC attacks to serve as rallying call for many Islamist revolutionaries. He was mostly disappointed: other terrorist attacks in the West did take place, but they were few, and none of them came close to equal the destructiveness and sheer efficiency of WTC attacks.

Breivik sees himself as a precursor for future numerous Nationalist revolutionaries. Will he be disappointed? Only time will tell.
