i like how all the proposed solutions are about making things more expensive and give more power to governments and powerbrokers... control freak lefties being "pro market" in a twisted kind of way.
cheaper more energy efficient house designs - no way, make the current ones more expensive with more gadgets - got to protect the housing market, the fact that the shit designs are mandated by government doesnt come up, more mandates for more expense is the solution.
cheaper more energy efficient cars - no way, got to protect the car industry, the fact that the designs are mandated by government doesnt come up, building small electric city cars on the sly just isnt possible.
if they want me to give a shit and afford it, then give tax breaks to energy efficient stuff and reduce the legislation that forces the expensive crap solutions.
the most sinister aspect of all - carbon trading, a government protected and mandated "market" that makes a whole world of power finance types drool at the prospect of garunteed prices and corrupt deals and trades... a whole new regime of tax they can tweek to modify my income and lifestyle and then claim is not a tax cause its a market, and then refund back to the power industries that have revolving doors and interests in the same government.. legalised corruption.
global warmings got nothing to do with carbon... that much is obvious.
dont even get me started on the "tree planting" .. i thought trees where part of the atmospheric carbon cycle and rotted and burned back into the atmosphere - they shouldnt even be legally able to claim it unless they are burying the cut logs deep under mountains to get squashed back into coal.
