The first image from the new Cryosat has been released, roughly compared to PIPS2 from Feb1, 2011, Cryosat measures Ice thickness way thicker than PIPS2.0, the easiest evidence to spot is the area to the left of Greenland, Baffin bay, Cryosat has this at largely 3m thick, while PIPS2.0 has it between 1.75m and 0.5m, and areas along Russia where PIPS shows 0.5m to 1.75m, Cryosat shows from 2m to 3m. In fact the whole scale for Cryosat is peculiar as it doesn't go below 2m and average winter ice thickness is 2.5m.

Abstract
Without sea-level acceleration, the 20th-century sea-level trend of 1.7 mm/y would produce a rise of only approximately 0.15 m from 2010 to 2100; therefore, sea-level acceleration is a critical component of projected sea-level rise. To determine this acceleration, we analyze monthly-averaged records for 57 U.S. tide gauges in the Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level (PSMSL) data base that have lengths of 60–156 years. Least-squares quadratic analysis of each of the 57 records are performed to quantify accelerations, and 25 gauge records having data spanning from 1930 to 2010 are analyzed. In both cases we obtain small average sea-level decelerations. To compare these results with worldwide data, we extend the analysis of Douglas (1992) by an additional 25 years and analyze revised data of Church and White (2006) from 1930 to 2007 and also obtain small sea-level decelerations similar to those we obtain from U.S. gauge records.

With having read the new Mann sea-level hockey stick paper in detail, I will still venture that sampling at two spatial points in N Carolina prone to shifting sands is not sufficient for making global inferences about sea levels and that there are numerous systematic uncertainties not properly accounted for. The paper you link is by 2 retired Engineers who have no experience in Geological reconstructions and find different to all other papers published. Ironically the Engineers use data developed by Church and say that sea level rise is slowing done, the opposite to what Chuch finds (below).


Anthony Watts doesn't even dispute the fact the World is warming up now, after his surface stations found the US and by extension Global temperature record to be correct, so it is just simple physics that sea levels will rise due to expansion and melting ice, although the increase in atmospheric water vapour will result in less sea level rise. Decreasing Glaciers will lead to an increase in isostatic rebound wich will lead to a decrease in sea level in some areas.

Al Gore's Mansion is in the hills of Montecito, the 'Monte' should have been a give away.



So it seems he does believe what he says and will have a good view of a rising sea.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to decide science in a court. Especially not an American one right now. The ruling you contend was bought is perfect proof of why doing so is a bad idea. Now you have nothing.

It tends to put a solidifying fiat on any decision. If science is to have any ability to revise conclusions based on new, better evidence, I should suggest you stay as far away from the American court system as possible. A ruling that CO2 is a harmful gas would quickly be pushed to justify every conceiveable permutation and half of those that are inconceivable. Before you know it, SWAT teams will be kicking in the doors of people that own one too many dogs.
