I agree that current trends are not going to change , barring force majeur .

That's what I'm saying , though . This stuff better make people create a force majeur , or the future will make Orwell look like a positive naif . They are going to win the legal battles. They are going to win the opinion battles .Like Jimmy Malone said, " And then what are you prepared to do?" .

This can't continue, these decisions can not keep stacking up, without the " same old, same old" coming to a stop . Eventually, the wins the bad guys are getting will make your life intolerable.

for clarity (because im in a horrid nuanced middle between the traditional left/right viewpoints)

i dont have a problem with a record exec making millions in sales from $20 an hr performances - if those artists want the teat, thats what they get.

i do have a problem with that record exec being "entitled" to making endless money from those performances and sending kids to jail - they are "entitled" to get what they got from selling those performances to those who wish to pay for them.

its their problem to value add or market those performances in a money making fashion, its not the role of our governments and legal system.

The root of it is the willingness to use the power of the state to enforce the most minute business infractions , the state being manipulated as a tool by industry , and industry being used as a tool by the state .

Yes, this can be something that folds into domestic politics , but it is indeed bigger than that . Much bigger . Limiting the government is only half the battle.
