Just played the newest release from Rockstar Games. This, my friends, is the true beginning of the video game to art renaissance.

While I haven't played L.A. Noire (and, most likely, never will), I don't see it as a renaissance of games. It's more of a big push to the final split, the point where interactive movies will become separate from games and go their own way. The AAA titles are currently struggling hard to become interactive movies, sacrificing player control and gameplay for cutscenes and full voice acting. The final split cannot come too soon.

Sorry, this comes about twenty years too late to be on the video game to art rennaissance, but I'm glad it sounds this cool. I should get it.

The example of video game as art that I usually use is Portal which came out 5 years ago. But there are plenty of games that are fully art that have been out for many many years.

People have been telling me this game is an interactive version of L.A. Confidential, so I think I may just re-watch L.A. Confidential and call it a day.
