Actually, the worst part about the first day of Eid is that it takes its toll on your innards because the body is still not used to consuming food during the day.

Does any spiritual fasting exists in Islam? Not leaving your stomach alone and at rest for a month, but the mind for a change? No Koran reading or other mental power wash. A mental sabbatical of that sort can of course never be too long.

A question to Northern latitude muzzies: what do you do when Ramadan falls in June? Here at latitude 50 deg plus it seems impossible (one meal at midnight, perhaps) while in December it would be hardly any hardship at all, except for the temptation of infidel Christmas parties. can you keep Mecca time?
Ramadan in the Arab world seems a bit of a fraud. People sleep in the day and party through the night. Nothing much gets done. Out in dar-al-Gharb it must be hard.
