Austria's Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics in Vienna calculated Fukushima is releasing 1.2 to 1.3 × 1017 becquerels per day of Iodine131 and 5 × 1015 becquerels of caesium-137 per day, assuming this has not changed, Fukushima has released around three times more I131 and Cs137 than Chernobyl over the 45 day since explosions, and no end in sight.
Chernobyl released 1.76 × 1018 becquerels of Iodine-131, 8.5 × 1016 becquerels of Caesium137.

The only way to stop the ongoing criticality events that produce I131, Cs137 etc is a large explosion to disperse fuel enough so that chain reactions cannot be sustained.
