Fancy Google Calendar Magics

So for the Haiti operation since it is all volunteer, we need to setup a system whereby people may know one another's availability. But I don't want to make it so people have to share full details of events they are attending. We don't need to know that you are going to the Dentist or the Psychiatrist or getting your bikini waxed. We just need to know that that block of time is not available. Is there a way to setup Google Calendar's so when you share data it only gives the details you want it to give without having to basically remake an entire calendar for everything?
