The regional maps have an overlay showing present-day boundaries of continents, countries, states, provinces. In some particularly complicated places, like the northwestern-most portion of North America, the components of what make up the present-day landmass are accumulations from dozens of so-called tectonic terranes, typically island chains like present day Hawaii, which have accreted to the continental plate.
