if so, that driver is already back in US according to several pakistani newspapers.

some more details ranging from interesting to important in that order...

Davis had ID card of US consulate in Peshawar

Lahore, Feb 20(ANI): The identity card recovered from double-murder accused US diplomat Raymond Davis is not of the US Consulate in Lahore, but of that in Peshawar.

The ID card represents Davis as an employee of the US Consulate in Peshawar instead of the Lahore Consulate, Geo News quoted sources, as saying.

The US consulate number mentioned on the ID card is 4819151, the sources added.

http://www.dailyindia.com/show/425800.php

“I lived in Pakistan for a year and I knew the American consulate workers in Karachi. The rules were very clear that consulate staff were not to go anywhere without escorts, usually that meant three cars...two armed escort and the one carrying the foreign worker in the middle of the pack. If he was out there on his own the consulate would have some questions for him...” Those who know the city will tell you that the area (Mozang) has little to offer to any foreign official. There is nothing there except a few rundown shops, some equally rundown houses and a very large graveyard.

Why would an embassy official violate embassy rules and go there unescorted, carrying guns? And then he ended up killing two people. As if that was not enough, a car from the embassy then mowed down another in a desperate attempt to keep the firs diplomat out of the hands of the police.

What seems clear at this point is that Davis, 36, is not what the US government is now claiming he is: a “technical advisor” to the consulate. That geeky description is belied by the eight or more perfect shots that he put, rapid-fire, into the two motorcyclists, shooting through the front windshield of his car.

His record –10 years in US Special Forces, supposedly ending in 2003–and his shell “security” company in the US, with its faked addresses, suggest strongly that he is working for the US, either in some intelligence branch, or more likely as an employee of some mercenary-for-hire company like Xe (Blackwater). In fact, a former long-time Army Special Forces veteran familiar with black-ops, speculates that Davis may still be in the Special Forces. He says, “Consider the strong possibility of our man being active-duty military, not Agency, not contract. Military people from special units have more and more taken responsibility for covert ops, especially those that involve shooting.”

This veteran adds, “Military folks are sometimes given an “official” cover, ie, a diplomatic passport and some BS story about what they do (consular section, eg). This is a problem, because it violates agreements with the host nations about reporting how many military are in country, and covers some sensitive operations. Thus the panic of the Department of State et al right now.”

Is it possible that he was part of the protection detail of a diplomat and it was a diplomat in that car?

Now it is starting to become clearer. From the of the UK -- he was working for the CIA, doing espionage. He shot at least one Pakistani in the back as the Pakistani was running away. So much for "self defense".

It would be very hard for the Pakistani government to justify releasing him, even if they wanted to. We'll probably end up letting Davis pay. We need the Pakistanis. Without routes through Pakistan, our troops in Afghanistan can't be supplied. There are consequences to shooting people in the back, even Muslims.
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

dumb move in a dumb war...

just say no...

no?

or else legalize drugs for adults...

prices will tumble, potency skyrocket (free enterprise system)...

and the hopelessly hopeless will drop off like flies....

as will crime rates, unpaid ER bills, incarceration expenses, police diversions, etc.

Too bad there hasn't been any liberal supermajorities to bring such a vision to life.

SUPPORT FOR HE WILL DIE THEORY

and some staggering claims

http://www.thefrontierpost.com/News.asp ... ar&nid=417

According to “The European Union Times report” Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) revealed that top secret CIA documents found in Davis’s possession point his connection with al-Qaeda terrorists and he used to provide them “nuclear fissile material” and “biological agents” which could be used against the United States itself in order to ignite an all-out war in order to reestablish the West’s hegemony over a Global economy that is just months away from collapse. The report further disclosed the information about Davis while quoting the report of “Times of India” that includes: “According to records from the Pentagon, Davis is a former Special Forces soldier who left the army in August 2003 after 10 years of service. A Virginia native, he served with infantry divisions prior to joining the 3rd Special Forces Group in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. In 1994, he was part of the UN peacekeeping force in Macedonia. The American Spy is in the habit of drug taking {“Chars filled cigarette & Niswar” (both these drugs are extensively being used by the male inhabitants of Afghanistan and tribal area of Pakistan)} According to the officers of investigating agencies, neither US consulate nor Mr. Davis has cooperated in interrogation of the case.

(one) Why Mr. Davis was roaming in Lahore with a loaded pistol and carried out photography of important sensitive places, (two) Is murder of the two young citizens result of some secret operation “agent burning of”, (three) Was Davis on some covert mission and thought that he had been compromised due to continuous chase by some local intelligence people, thus decided to get rid of them ,(four) Was he working as a duel agent of RAW & Mossad apart from his parent organisation CIA, (five) Has he been given the mission of sabotaging already scheduled US-Pakistan-Afghanistan Dialogues, (six) Was he really helping al-Qaeda in getting small yield nuclear weapons (seven) Was he having some connection or clue in killing and abduction of Col (Retired) Imam, (eight) Why US consulate is reluctant in handing over the car along with driver for investigating which crushed a passing bye motorcyclist ,(nine) Do the operators of Mr. Davis’s desire to sabotage Obama’s plan of leaving Afghanistan soon, (ten) Is he on a mission to sabotage forthcoming Indo-Pak talks, (eleven) Has CIA decided to get rid of Mr. Davis? The analysis of the evidence available and questions raised in this article are giving indication that CIA spy Mr. Davis was on some secret mission and killed innocent Pakistani citizens considering them chaser of local intelligence organisation or on “agent burning mission’. Pakistan government must take care of Mr. Davis’ protection because some foreign agency may try to eliminate him in jail.

Isn't Chars some form of Hash?

Yup, Charas is Hash.

Can't really say that a covert operative smoking Hash in Afghanistan really gets my hackles up.
