I have deleted a bunch of spambots. If you are a new user and I deleted your account in error, just make a new one and PM me and pass the Turing test.

Suggest keeping the "japan dating agency 5277" thread for fun, and getting rid of the rapidly proliferating rest before these threads overrun the Current Events section.

Adding a so-called captcha would probably go a long way to preventing the problem.

Rather than the usual fuzzed out pair of words, one of the most effective I've seen is at ZH,

which simple asks you to solve a simple arithmetic expression such as

57 + ( - 23 ) = ?

with the pair of number generated (pseudo)randomly between 0 and 100.

Perhaps if the question is made somewhat more esoteric, and the answer must be typed into a text field instead of selected from a combo box? The Col's maths suggestion would be good e.g. What is the result of taking 10 from twelve and adding VI?

You're welcome. You should be able to zoom in and out using your browser. Ctrl + / - is the usual shortcut (at least in Firefox).
