Hans, you don't need Islam or any other faith to be a sociable and good fellow. This is so, because there are millions of good sociable fellows that are secular/atheist/non-believer, Christian, Jew, Hindu, Buddhist etc. The fact that most people who wear all those different hats can be nice sociable good people strongly suggests you don't need much to be an OK person, get along reasonably well with others and do some good. This is true, even though many will claim they are only nice and sociable because of the hat they wear. (Of course the simple fact of wearing different hats can also be provocative causing distrust, violence.. even war.)

Not to say that wearing a hat is wrong, a sign of weakness, or that a nice hat can/should not be inspiring... only it is somewhat out of touch with reality when people (not you) claim that if they were not wearing their own particular hat, they'd be a miserable if not bad 'n lost kind of person. This would imply that if people hold on only lightly to the assumptions that make up their faith... they can take a lil' joke, more easily accept diversity, not be too heavy handed or prickly about it. When some morons start burning Korans we laugh and shrug shoulders. They in fact should be encouraged to burn more Korans, and Bible burners might wanna join as well, or any other oh-so-holy shit on print enthusiasts: to burn books or be angry/phobic about it is for the toddlers and the real phobiacs in this world. They love books more than human beings and the forests that produce the oxygen we need to breath.

In the mean time we'll wait for Ibrahim to calm down and be finished throwing around his usual porcupine poo.

No one said that you have to be a Muslim to be a good fellow. But just because you are a Muslim does not mean that you are not a good fellow; or "educated, with intellectual posturing", etc.. etc..

But one can not deny the effect that the very basic teachings of Islam has on your morals either.

The joke goes something like this...

Church for Sunday service: Good times, singing, at a convenient time (after breakfast but before lunch), you hear all you want about love and such and if you are sleeping because of that nasty hangover from the night before, you are forgiven anyway so don't sweat it. Herpes from that drunken orgy?? Well we can't make that go away but don't worry, Jesus loves you. All is forgiven.

I just find it interesting that none of you had a comment on the Prophet's last sermon. No mention of violent worldly takeover or the enslavement of woman or infidels, etc..etc..

And the above shows the typical mindset of Islam. "Defective Script" is a perfectly normal orthographic term but to Hans what mattered was that I used a term in connection with Islam that might be construed as sounding bad, therefore, it, and I, and anyone who looks like me, must be attacked.

And BTW, the main objective of my "attack" was to illustrate why Arabic is the perfect vehicle for delivering the message of the Quran, despite its broken script.

According to the sampling I've done, about 65% of tells of the horrible fate that awaits those who do not heed its message. Most of the rest is boring, stupid, and unbelievably poorly put together. It's actually a travesty. Off hand, I can't think of any "holy book" that equals it for the amount of hate and ignorance contained in it. Then there's Muhammad. Ugly. Really, really ugly. The guy was a maniac. Imagine if Atilla the Hun had founded a religion.
