Tax Exempt Status

I'm just going to attempt to start a conversation and hope it goes somewhere, about this:

I chose this general wiki article rather than a link to Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code because I don't want the conversation to be limited to the U.S. I hope the conversation will include those who object to a progressive income tax, those who favor a value added tax in lieu of or in conjunction with an income tax, those who advocate a flat tax, as well as those who think that a simpler tax code can make room for a Guaranteed Annual Income (and, with all due respect to Alph, I am certain that I was the first person to advocate such a thing at Spengler, though I'll admit it if I am wrong). Have at it.

australia had a chance at a pure GST (consumption tax), with no other agenda taxes but alas blew it - im a big fan of it, as for the garunteed income, I am perhaps surprisingly in favour of it.

in my world, it would be an almost seperate financial system, social dollars based on hours... which would end up with exchange rates and be part of the wider one, but thats a distraction.

having people show up and do stuff, gets a surprising amount done - if you didnt like participating in this nasty competitive capitalist world and would prefer a gentler more cooperative world, then i believe there would be enough resources to insulate yourself from the wider world, provided you didnt expect TOO (1) much.

the core of this idea is based on the advantages asia and some of the pacific have over the west - a coherant villiage life that exists without the wider globalised capitalism - we lost it and this would be an attempt to recreate its good side.

For some reason, probably a good one that I welcomed, you made remarks about me when i was nowhere to be found that were not very flattering. And you probably meant them, which is fine. I am not playing the victim in this thread, so perhaps you should stop too, else you know where it will end.
