I only want a fair field of play, you say. Sooner or later, it comes down to coercion, and you end up simply replacing one type of discrimination with another.

I don't think anyone is against freedom of opportunity. But the only way to "level the playing field to give everyone an equal shot" is by cutting everyone down to the lowest level. If effect, you're saying - we must stop privileged parents from using their positions to benefit their children. And we must force bad parents to give their children a better shot.

What you speak of is coercion. You just don't want to say it that way (or perhaps even admit that to yourself), so you use all this bullshit about veils to cover your tracks.

I guess I'm turning more socialistic in my old age, but CH is just being defeatist. Surely, this is not the most fair system we can have without engaging in too much coercion.

How many incompetent kids get cushy jobs because of daddy's golf buddy?
How many promising entrepreneurs fail to take off simply because they don't have access to deep enough credit pools for startup or expansion costs?

I agree. I would also add the ought that we should slaughter anyone who tries to ban porn or booze, and leave their bodies to rot and be eaten by birds and wild animals. I also think we should replace marriage with 5, 10 and 20 year binding contracts, renewable under mutual consent.
