There is a ton of difference when Sarah Palin depicts someone with a crosshair target , or someone liberal say Bill Maher depicts someone the same way. Bill Maher will be laughed off by his followers.

NRA , gun rights advocates and other assorted types are strong constituents for Palin in particular & republicans in general. They are more likely to act on this and have means to do so. The most damage liberals can do is to make annoying phone calls or effigy burning.

Just for my own edification, is there anyone in this thread or on this forum (excluding Mr. P) who doesn't agree that partisan exploitation and wacko rhetoric is present on both the left and right wing, in more or less equal measures?

I'd grant that -- but I'm have trouble with this particular event. I cant' see the Right -- day-of-the-shooting -- assigning something like causal blame on Obama or Pelosi.

Perhaps with his reading of Marx, and the Communist manafesto, some bright bulb on the Left knew that the best thing to do was throw a red herring in Palin's direction.

I forget the term they use in advertising, but there is an effect on the masses of a false memory/product claim -- that's remembered long after it's proven wrong. Just the sudden burst in the media is all it takes to make the smear/product claim complete.
