Yang Jing, the artist on the 琵琶 (Pipa) is simply remarkable. How she is expressing this ancient piece on what is also known as a “Chinese lute” is far more subtle and difficult than it appears. You can literally spend years simply learning how to sit and to position the body to balance the Qi to play this instrument properly. The performer of the 箫 (Xiao) is simply wonderful, and the whole, majestic piece brings tears to my eyes. The many years of hard work and discipline as well as the clear intelligent attention of all players in this piece is reflective of the greatness of the Chinese people whom I am blessed to have among my many ancestors:
