Any NK offensive would be from armoured columns. Cluster homing missiles destroyed a whole division of Iraqi tanks in Iraq II in seconds. Tanks are now as obsolete on the battlefield as cavalry was in WW1, unless you have some very sophisticated countermeasures. I doubt even China has those, let alone let NK have them.

Assumes US lets them be used by SK - surely a sensible assumption.

A top level sniper can make a killing shot from a mile, even longer with the high caliber rounds. We have lots of hardened top level snipers on tap, willing and eager. With incendiary/explosive bullets that can compromise all kinds of armor/walls. One of our US snipers who was awarded in our recent conflicts made killing shots through brick walls.

People talk up the North Korean degradation of tech, but I am unsure how much merit it has. I have conversely heard that the maintain what they do have with obsessive zeal. After all regularly polshed steel doesn't rust.

Yes, but the problem is infil/exfil. Getting to them is going to be exceedingly hard, even within a mile. They aren't big on public appearances that are not minutely managed- they will in fact paint grass that is not sufficiently green enough . For a nation that has imbibed paranoia with its mother's milk ( HAH! I revive your Obama rancor and twist it to my evil purposes , foul Goldman !!!!) , I don't see good numbers on this.

Sniping for the Soviets was a very different game than it is for most others today . The Soviet model was very consistent with the WWI model- broken terrain, static positions, few long distance stalks , extremely target rich environment . Not sure the same success would be open to women snipers in , say , AFG .

It's a stretch for me to believe that the problems of the North Korean people are due solely to the avarice of the "MIC." Perhaps in years long past, but now? I think that most people without bias would see that the fault now lays at the feet of the North's insane leadership.

The differences between the North and South are stark, and unmistakable. America did not create SK's affluence out of thin air. Freedom did, and America worked mainly to guarantee that freedom against one of the most tyrannical, oppressive , and insular regimes in history.

But I agree it's time for America to go. Our work is unmistakably done. SK can take care of itself quite well now, sans Chinese intervention, the perceived threat of which is probably the only (outdated) reason we remain.
