I don't think it can be denied that any ground attack by N Korea would be a one way trip . The road to Seoul would make the two lane from Kuwait to Basra ca '91 look like a fender bender . It would be truly epic . But unless the character of NK has changed dramatically for the better in the past 60 years ( I doubt it ) , these people will simply drive on the backs of their dead brothers , to the last . I have sympathy for the idea that minds may change as soon as they see all the Starbucks , and that would be nice . But when the reporter from Pyongyang says the young people in the parades are crying and screaming for the Dear Leader or whatever , there is a reason for it beyond acting . This sort of oppression will do apey things to your head .
And so Mr P doesn't have to raid the pages of the various sniper fora any more , you can forget assassinating the Kims . Impossible short of nuking where he is standing . Someone inside might do it on their own for whatever reason, I guess , but I have considerable doubt it would even make much difference .
And I did the math - even allowing for 50% hits and a further 20% degradation due to Murphy , you still have the capability for a flight of ten A10s or F16s destroying the van of an entire motor rifle or armor division . That sort of turnaround can be done maybe four times a day . Assuming they survive antiair . But the point is , a fraction of the air to mud that SK/US forces have in the air means death on a stick for the Norks .
The use of SF is an entirely different matter, and to my mind, the greater threat .
Don't know what it is, but I'm agin'it.
