[Torchwood]

Starting to harvest vegetables from my allotment. This was a year of spring drought and summer rain, so getting some mixed results. Potatoes are huge (should have dug some earlier) but not as tasty as usual. French beans excellent crop, courgettes (zucchini to you Yanks) are just coming, but if you don't catch them quick they swell into big, tough marrows. Onion crop is a disaster though, too wet and cool over the past month and no rain when they needed them. Lots of blackberries in the hedgerows, few bother to pick them so we do and make blackberry and apple jam.

over the last few months ive gone full bore on my photography hobby, upgraded my cheapo entry level gear to prosumer/midrange and its been a very inspiring creative period... so much so that i doubt ill find any spare time for much else in the near future.

modern cameras are awesome things, so many years ive wanted to get into this and finally its all cheap enough.

im still learning and wont bore y'all with my endless experiments ;P

main fetish is wildlife - macros and telephotos of nature i find on my bush walks but im also getting into arty portraiture - trying to make simple pictures of boring things interesting via composition.

locally, work/politics are pretty ugly for me at the moment, its nice to turn all that off and enjoy some quiet creative time.
