That's horrible. I have a few family members that were evacuated today in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Flooding is such a terrible thing--I hope everyone possible never has to go through it. Flooding in 1972 from Hurricane Agnes devastated the Wyoming Valley area and some parts still haven't totally recovered, even now. Prayers to all those unfortunate in this storm.

Typhoon Talas in western Japan was the worst since 1979. Extensive flooding. More than 100 people lost their lives.

Yeah, I don't really know anyone directly affected. I got this from a friend of mine whose daughter is at SUNY Binghamton. But the school itself is on high ground. That stadium where people are sleeping is the college arena.

Weird year continues,

April, May - exceptionally hot for the time of year, temps up to 30 degrees, bush fires
June, July, August- early September - utterly crap, wet, cold, had the heating on evenings some days

Now that it nearly October, temperature back up to 29 degrees today, dig out the sunscreen, not a cloud in the sky for three days (that is exceptional here...) . London warmer than Spain in dry southerly wind.

Thailand is experiencing the worst flooding in about 50 years with ~ 260 deaths to date.
