Not to speak for Sparky or Torchwood, but the main criticism leveled against Iran is that it is a dump today because of the terrible government it has had for the last 30 years. Bragging about events of 2300 years ago, as the Shah used to do, doesn't help modern Iranians repressed by their shit government.
