Ibrahim,
Concur on time issues. Main reason I have completed some games in the past five years is due to deployments. After 12-hr shifts, not exactly a huge selection of off-time activities to do (you can only work out so much). At home, I get about an hour to two hours every couple of days. Between family time, reading lists, playing guitar, and checking in here, not much time for free-roaming games that I like (Oblivion, Fallout 3, Borderlands, sounds like Gotham City would be cool). But, I've played video games since I was a little kid, and I don't want to let that part of me go just because I'm marching towards 40. I'm in the dark on the "modding" community for Oblivion though...
Rednblacklumberjack,
I'm looking forward to Mass Effect 3 to see if they can pull off a decent closing to a good story arc (and am curious as to the game-within-the game choices towards the "love" scene). I don't mind if they stole Deus Ex's game mechanics like Tinker said, because I like not having to relearn button mashing, and if the mechanics and conversation wheel works, copy it; as long as the story and visuals have their own character, I'm content.
Oh, and I'm cheap as hell now...I rented Deus Ex: Human Revolution from Redbox, and except for Assassins Creed I and II, and Mass Effect 1, all my games have been in the used aisle at Gamestop or reduced on Amazon.
Rage looks cool, but I wonder if it's too close to Borderlands and Fallout 3 in terms of story.
