Good deal man I'm glad that you found a job!! It's damn hard in this economy to get a job that is worth having. I've watched about every darn job I ever had go oversees for the past decade until it was time to either change careers, move to a metro area, or just plain give up. I've been tooling around in a semi truck for the past decade and had one hell of a rough adjustment to that lifestyle. The "I hate myself for ending up like this." phase of my life lasted about four years and I not only hated my life but hated driving the damn truck as well. I have completely resolved myself to the fact that I will probably drive the damn thing until I either can no longer physically do it any longer or until I am either murdered in a truckstop or have a massive heart attack and lye in the bunk rotting until they send someone to get my load from me because it's important. Anyway at least I got past the "I hate myself" stage of a major career change and have gone on with my life. THe highpoint of driving is you have a lot of time to think and read. Hanging around with this outstanding group of people has given me a lot of ideas for books to read and things to think about.

Ever wonder why women look at a man more when he is married happily ( absolute truth ? Because a part of them knows this guy is capable of playing right, not because marriage makes a guy more attractive . Same thing here- once you have a job, whatever job, you are not a leper. You have that box, check another. The degree is a springboard to a degree that might matter ( or not). So forth, so on .

Good song by Blues Traveler said, " No such thing as a failure that keeps trying/Floating to the bottom is the only disgrace". If you never , over the course of the rest of your life, ever get any farther than you are but keep pushing, then you did what you could with the tools available. Not all of us are cut out to be kings.

Thank you, Azari, for that video. That guy is the man, especially considering his condition. I am nothing like him. I am a spoiled American kid that has been an asshole. That guy is an inspiration--I am a warning. I do appreciate you posting that, though, and I do thank you for trying to lift my spirits--they go from cocky to despondent without much middle ground.

In my mind , we are not taking nearly enough of the blame , or if we are , we do so rhetorically , but not in many measurable ways as indicated in our actions.

Whatever.

I do agree , though , that great things come from confession and responsibility. Owning what you did. Think of if as any sort of a flow chart. How do you make anything happen without knowing the operative condition, without an objective assessment ? I have been thinking about sin, redemption, confession and repentance a lot over the past few days , and not a lick of it referenced any version of god. I find the truth of guilt and living hell as a reality very much a possibility.

How do you live in hell ? What do you do when cognitive dissonance isn't enough or is no longer available ?

Living in Hell is its own sort of dissonance. This isn't Hell. If it was, why would we consider our daughters' fates at all? This is Earth as beautiful as a Sunset as ugly as a sore, as tough as granite as fragile as an orchid. Good and Evil can live side by side, birthed from the same womb and conceived by the same mind.
