No video for this, or at least not any that shows the performers, which is a shame.
Beautifully done.
Arpeggiata addio - Johann Hieronymus Kapsberger, a.k.a. Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger (1580-1651) as interpreted by Rolf Lislevand, lute; and Arianna Savall, soprano
I've been listening to the remarkable album this is from with the two of them, Rolf on the archlute, baroque guitar, theorbo; Arianna singing and playing the tripple harp, joined by other musicians on percussion, colascione, double-bass, organ, clavichord, nyckelharpa (viola d'amore a chiavi), and the chitarra battente, playing music from the early baroque.
As Lislevand implies in the little introduction he writes, most of these instruments they play were superceded in large part because as audiences grew beyond the immediate circle of wealthy patrons and musicians wanted to be heard even in the back seats of a large hall, instruments were re-designed to ensure volume.
But now, what with the microphone, we can hear the clavichord as if we had our ear right next to the keyboard.
