The Eyes of Thailand

This is really interesting. A friend of mine helped bankroll this documentary. It's about people who make prosthetics for elephants that stepped on land mines.
The canary didn't die because this mine is dangerous, it died because it's lazy and wasn't raised with a proper work ethic.

Thank you, Tinker. I am glad that these great, gentle, sweet giants are being cared for. Unfortunately, mines and unexploded munitions remain a serious problem throughout Southeast Asia, not just in Myanmar but particularly in Cambodia, Laos, and Viet Nam, and not just for our animal friends and helpers but for we humans as well.

If you travel into Cambodia, it is common to see people, children as well as the old, with missing limbs on crutches without prosthetics. Some 40,000 Cambodians have suffered amputations as a result of mine injuries alone since 1979. Humans and animals continued to be injured and maimed by the residue of the many wars that have been fought here.
