If capitalism is broken, it is because we as humans are broken, and the same broken fate will await any another system that is attempted.
I produce things of value, and expect to receive market value in exchange for them. The more socialist a system becomes, the less a producer receives for his product in order to fund those who produce nothing.
Capitalist systems also fund those who produce nothing, but the key difference is that in capitalism, the arrangements are entered into voluntarily, and in socialism, they occur at the point of a gun.
Since it is axiomatic to socialism that the most productive are the highest taxed, the incentive to be productive slowly disappears, replace by a culture of mediocrity where most do the bare minimum to get by, or less. I see this attitude often in wage workers, and rarely in commission workers.
I know this stuff is way too simple for most of you, but sometimes it is helpful to get back to basics. Every lesson about work and productivity I have ever learned in 27 years in my chosen field have taught me that "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" is a high minded pronouncement, but a complete disaster in real life.
