That joke just hurts me, I cannot laugh. It's like, "How do you make a little girl cry twice?" "Wipe your bloody dick on her teddy bear.", it's such a vicious and evil joke that if I am laughing it's only so as not to cry or get angry.

Turns out I was wrong - there are 55 synonyms for "slaughter" in German. No wonder Spengler loves the language.

We might have that many and more slang phrases in English that mean " to kill" in some variety , but we don't have that many individual words. If STs characterization of German is right , I take back any previously mentioned desires to learn the language.

English does nearly as well, given that compound verbs in English (such as "rub out" or "put to death") would be a single word in German. A quick thesaurus search yields nearly 50, and I am sure a few others can be found:

Yeah , but most of those aren't words that inherently mean " kill" so much as they have been put to that use through slang. One of them is a Frenchman's name , for pity's sake. If that's what they are doing with the German language , then they dont come off so badly.
