Thesis: Politics in the 21st century has been completely taken over by the notion that Yugoslavia is a proper model for all conflict everywhere in the world.

Security Experts in the West have a vested interest in ensuring that there is some great 'other' threat from some other group of human beings AT ALL TIMES. Disengagement would be catastrophic for their industry as their industry requires meddling and engagement in order to maintain the existence of the 'great enemy'. This is why Islamic terrorism is always held up as a much greater, and much more immediate threat than it is at any given time.

To this end, all cultures except for the top tier nations are treated as a potential Balkans, with the possibility of a weak leader preying on ethnic violence in order to maintain power. The preservation and creation of these weak leaders is essential to hegemonic foreign policy because they fulfill two roles, they keep the population weak and disenfranchised, and as a result of their actions in order to maintain power, they can always and easily be made into bogeymen when the ethnic conflict needs to be pointed in their direction. After removal, a new weak leadership is installed by the occupying power in order to avoid...Balkanization.

Disengagement would also incite self-reflection and a move away from legalism. The first priority for the West is to keep Islamicism alive. The Jihadhi's are sitting on a gold mine......
