There's a lot of murder in Detroit. Does that mean they shouldn't bother to prosecute anyone for murder?

If Dick Cheney committed bribery, he should go to jail. The fact that other people have done it is no excuse.

If you lecture the cop who pulled you over for speeding on how a lot of other people were speeding and call him a hypocrite for pulling you over and not pulling over all the other speeders, does he change his mind and decide not to give you a ticket? How often do you think that ploy works?

So far, the ICC has prosecuted Africans who have committed war crimes and who would not have otherwise been prosecuted. It is very unlikely that they'll be prosecuting Americans, since we already have courts in this country. The ICC is a court of last resort. Even if they did want to prosecute Americans, I think you'll agree that they'd have quite a bit of trouble with the extradition process. So, you worry way too much about it.

I agree with you about the Williams sisters (not my thing) and I've seen some Cherokee women I like, too.

Lets be real for a moment. It's really easy to know whether Cheney knew that bribes were being handed out. There is just one question.

Did he authorize work in Nigeria? Y/N

If Y then he is responsible for paying bribes.

You can't cross the street in Nigeria without a permit. You can't get no permit to cross the street without paying a bribe. Goonie goo goo indeed. And as far as the ICC goes, the naive assumption that, given jurisdiction, it would not be used to incapacitate all American foreign policy by America's enemies is charming. Already Spanish courts are trying to prosecute American officials for crimes not committed in Spain and having nothing to do with Spanish or even EU citizens. Assuming that the ICC would be a "very professional" organization when it came to the US is laughable, given that the appointment process for judges is a purely political one, and that most other countries are infested by anti-Americanism.

Just look at the UN and Israel for a taste.

There is no right or wrong in between nations, I think . There are only sides . Tinker correctly points out where the superpowers have their fingers on the scales of justice- and make no mistake , the US has bigger, fatter fingers in terms of skewing results than anybody on the planet . Just monetary policy would confirm that .

How you deal with strangers is its own thing , and the consensus seems to be that forced train pulling is fine as long as you are the caboose . But you have to be honest within your own borders . Nigeria and many , many others do not rise to the level of credulity with which one might even attempt to dispense justice with a straight face. To even try it on an international level is farcical . That is precisely what this is, too, unless they think Big Dick is actually going househunting in the oil-shat countryside .

Don't get me wrong-
