NK has apparently postponed its first party conference in decades, admitting, rare for them, that their leader is ill.

KJI has looked like people that I've known who were being ravaged by cancer lately: like shit!



As usual, everything is up for grabs, how ill he is, who comes next etc.

I think that he's near death and that there will be a lot of uncertainty over what's next.

The implications are sweeping, thoughts?

I don't think it matters too much. This regime is doomed, and the sooner the better. The party apparatus clearly has a succession organized, but this is another incremental step towards inevitable Korean unification.

It seems quite definite, as definite as anything out of NK, that the conference has been postponed indefinitely. However, many commentators are coming down on the side of some massive floods as the cause, not KJI's health.

In its first ever mention of Kim Jong-un, state news agency KCNA said the 26- or 27-year-old had been given the rank of general.

Kim Jong Un has been appointed as one of 2 Vice Chairman of the Central Military Committee, which is the de facto governing body of NK. The other VC is one of KJI's sisters. This rather hasty move would seem to confirm that KJI is very ill, and little else.
