This is another story that caught my attention. The police are playing with fire here. The authorities should have just let this thing run out of steam instead of sending in their cossacks. Creating a rallying point for violence like this is a mistake.

I want to note that the Oakland PD has for the past 2-3 years been ravaged by the CA budget crisis, and faced dramatic cutbacks and demoralization. These disproportionate tactics reek of an insecure battalion desperate to assert control and appearances in an attempt to parlay relevance for the city.


But more truthfully, the current narrative of mutual antagonism was actually what both sides have subconsciously been desiring if not slobbering for all this time. Gives them all something to stimulate their souls and rail against.
