Does anyone know much about Banri Kaieda and agriculture minister Michihiko Kano? It seems that they would have the least chance of getting vetoed by the Ozawa camp.

And I've read that Michihiko Kano has some support among some LDP members.
Should be interesting . . .

[Ichiro Ozawa] is backing (Trade Minister) Banri Kaieda,

so I guess that would make him the front-runner.

As you know, the running joke is the revolving door PM's.
If memory serves, the new PM will be the sixth in five years.
There is little difference between the inbred LDP and DPJ.
Both are mainly only interested in their preservation of power, patronage, and privilege.
Most politicians and the real power behind the throne, the bureaucracy, are living in the past.
