The reasons I created this forum are becoming murkier and murkier. I am not getting out of it what I wanted to.

he is becoming a parody of a parody, and its your forum. im more able to read him than you i suspect, but it will be run to your tastes and im not fussed.

i do wish i had more time and mental energy to contribute more quality, but alas.. i dont.

Handy, dandy ignore function and Presto! prick free foruming. Dip in when feeling masochistic, tune out when bored of the noise.

If Mr. P. is the problem, then ignore him.

Ok, then lets turn this into a discussion of what value this forum has.

What value does it have to you? Mainly it's my view of this as a community that motivates me to maintain it. That is the primary reason.

I get good insights on what's going on around the world. That's of value I suppose.

But on the downside it's like Blech, culture war all the time.

On the other hand there are a select few people who see what's coming down the pike with the individual's ability to manufacture industrial products with the resources already available. That's cool, and fun to talk to people about.

So overall I guess it still has more value than not.

The left/right non-discussions are driving me batty though.

I also had the thought of restructuring the forum based on topicality. Like 'News, Politics, Philosophy, History, Science and give each an instructional reference section like we have in Science. Then any subforums would fall under those headings. News would be to report breaking news. Politics would be where the handicapping of elections and all that goes on. Politics and History could be broken up topically based upon region. So how we have American Politics now, we'd have 'North American Politics/History, Latin American, European, East Asia, Central Asia, Middle-East, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Antarctica.

Science could be broken up into Science, Technology, Futurism

Art would remain the same, Hell, Heaven and Tea Time would remain the same, maybe in a Members only forum.

Maybe you are looking at the wrong reasons. I hope you were not out to save the world amigo.
It is what it is. But look at the bright side. Even if you learned one new thing because of this forum's existence, then it was worth it. Different people, different backgrounds, different experiences all being shared amongst total strangers that found comfort in sharing their stories. Stories that were funny, sad, inspiring, rediculous, etc...
but if one story made a difference in someone's life, and it put a smile on their face,
or if you heard a song here that you have forgotten about,
or saw a picture of a beautiful women that brought back the joys of punching your clown,
or learned that despite our differences we ALL yearn for the same things in life regardless of how we might attain them,
or learned that a great excercise can simply mean beating an old tire with a hammer,
or that a naked banana is funny,
or that some people are so biased to what they think they know they won't even feel the burner turning up underneath them,
or that a good friend/member survived a horrific tsunamy,
or soldiers can indeed think for themselves shattering misconceptions,
or Arabs getting along with Iranians, Sunnis with Shias,
or that storm troopers can get hungry and bang on the table,
or that even at an old age youth will still appeal to us meaning our balls will still function,
or that Zionism is the devil,
or if you had no idea that an Asian woman with an ass like big momma in pink and swords can get you horny so that you can make love all night,
or that weening yourself of dope was only $20 away in the form of a socket,
or how far your imagination can take you about what Lzzrdgirl is really like in that maid outfit, grrrr,
or, and this is the most important, all the people here are wonderful int heir own way because they expanded your horizons or even confirmed your own biases
or that the Quran says never hate anything because you might find your salvation in it

if any of these apply to you, then you have won....
and this place was worth it.
Murky is 6 feet under. Out here the sun still shines and if your body can still function smelling the wonderful reaction that occurs inside of a cylinder combustion chamber x 8, then you are good amigo.
