All these charities by western celebrities (and some billionaires) are self promotion stunts .. feel good exercise .. worth Zero

If Bill Gates and Madona and Bono really want to help Africa, they should talk to all those western companies that stealing African resources .. Africa is the most resource rich continent, no reason (whatsoever) to be poor

It's not hypocritical depending on how the Foundation was organized. If the Foundation was organized to disburse funds and it didn't that's hypocritical. If the Foundation's purpose is to 'build awareness' then it's not hypocritical.

People by and large don't really seem to understand how this stuff works.

Bono could very well in his travels be making deals between other organizations helping them acquire funds through other means. I don't know his Foundation, what it does or how it operates, but we'd have to know what work those people whose salaries are being paid are doing. They might actually be doing good work that helps people get the resources they need from other means. I don't know.

That being said, I wouldn't give money to his organization.

It seems like the One Foundation is actually a lobbying arm of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Getting pledges from Governments seems to be their strategy.
