Dr. Jack Kevorkian died. It is sad that his work was never completed. People should have the right to die when they want to.

of course....
we grant beloved animals a quick death instead of hopeless interminable pain.
but ever since healing humans became a llc...inc.... corporate enterprise.... big business...
its no longer about the end of life
but turning off the meter
and that's bad for business.

Dr Kervorkian was a great man, an mind free from Medieval superstition and a true appreciation of what it is to be alive.
The 'title' of Doctor death shows just how corrupt media is, that it is merrily interested in pandering to it's readers perceptions and has little to do with describing reality, essentialy it is the blue pill.

BS. There are damn near limitless means to kill yourself, without having a doctor do it for you (Sky, don't you think the med cartel would love a new avenue of funding via the soft sleep solution?). And not all of them are horrific and painful. The best is 2 viagras+1 amphetamine+5 shots of jack+1 busty hooker.

the reformation is in dire need of a reformation...
the ability of megachurch ceo's to warble feel good sermons
antithetical to the words of their supposed teacher is stunning.
like ghandi said when asked his thoughts on christianity...
I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

I know where Cinci is coming from , in that the reality is that a person really does have an inalienable right to live or die , and that can't be removed. Much of the to- do is lipstick on a pig. But Tink is right , after a point when it really becomes needed most , the methods will elude most people.
Anybody that says life should go on no matter what needs to spend time at hospice. Nothing like watching family members pick up psychological scarring as their grandma begs to die every time she's conscious. I personally hope I can stay with it all the way to the fade to black , but I reserve the right to change my mind due to circumstances. There are too many ways to die that take weeks and months , not hours or even days.

For that matter , one of the concerns of the very earliest church was people too willing to end their life as martyrs. Irenaus practically begged for the lions.
What happened ? Far as I am concerned , I am with the priest on the Titanic; women , children and the unsaved to the lifeboats. The rest of us , it ain't nothing but a brief swim.

hope to have the strength to walk to the mountain top when the end is near and watch the stars stop twinkling.
if not, maybe the safe ride people will give me a lift.
in any event, willing intubated prisoner of doomed packaging
strikes me as a sadly frightened response to the last recon...

Somehow I should think that the certainty of imminent death wouldn't be scary. It's the possibility that death is not inevitable just now that makes the thought unbearable.

It's the fear of the act , and it's pretty powerful. That said , I'll be damned if I'm digging my own grave. My dislike of manual labor that wasn't my idea is historically significant.
For that matter , I'm not dying where someone else wants me to. They better be pretty damn big or have a lot of friends.

Obviously some kind of assisted suicide option in both medical practice and the law of civilized countries is what the future holds. We're just working our way through the debate process.
What sets Kavorkian apart is that he put his money where his mouth is, and went to court/jail for his bioethical stance.

I don't wanna come across as the same style as Sr. Quattrocchi........
Doubt, fear and sentiments cause believers to question their faith every day, but there is an ideal and it should inform our hearts even when as the time comes, our hand is stilled and our brain paralysed. We still have responsibility for life, regardless. It was easier when all there was, was letting nature take her course. Now we can hold a body in dry-dock for an indefinite period of time because we are numble-pated by the notion we are "playing G_d" when all that's required of us is to stop juggling the oranges and simply..... let them fall.....
