1) Downloading: Every man for himself. I bought music when I was a kid, no problem. Worked hard, bought product. Do what you think is right. File sharing has destroyed the music business, which is ok I guess. Record labels won't pay money to develop talent anymore, it's churn and burn. If that's what people want, that's what they want.

2) Corn. Hasn't risen to the level of being a serious issue yet. The jails of all nations are full of innocent people, it's an ongoing thing. Ip also is full of desperate lawsuits making desperate claims. As someone who has applied for 4 patents filing suit is always part of the process if your patent is any good. Dumb patents and dumb lawsuits get shot down all the time.

My understanding of patent law tells me this Monsanto thing is A grade hysteria. And I know enough about patent law to write a patent for you. I have written patents. That ain't bragging, you can do it too.

micro business and small business really struggles with the legal action - even if they do win them in the long run - its alot easier to be blase about it when you do have the resources to keep a good legal team going.

i agree its a fact of life, and variations of technology hiding will crop up in any system but from my perspective the pros and cons of current IP law are tending towards to the cons - their is such an explosion of new technology that even if their is truth in the fact that without IP it would slow things down, i wonder just how slow that would be.

so many of the creative types i know, do it for the fun of it - the protection is needed to industralise it and we seem to be moving away from single purpose monolithic industrial factories to more flexable robotic ones, so the risks for startup on new product is getting lower, so protecting the idea isnt as required.
