It works the other way around too.

Some groups of people are terribly afraid of what archaeologists will uncover because chances are good that the discoveries will contradict the stories those who live there now tell themselves. Some recent examples include Arabs and Native Americans.

now mostly one at a time family events

dont seem to have occurred there as they have in the so called "disputed territories"

where an assault on the "land without a people for a people without land"

to alter inconvenient "facts on the ground" is still underway....

Yeah, that'll be right. They're all in jail for doing their jobs, Azari - as you well know. If you want to label them as political prisoners and spies for merely doing what their trade demands of them - investigating, inquiring into and reporting events - then I guess your standards of press freedom can be described at best as sub-Israeli, and your criticism as ludicrously hypocritical.

The simple fact is that Iran's institutions, imposed national ideology and government are so fragile that they are incapable of withstanding the least public scrutiny. The Israelis have a long way to fall before they are as existentially enfeebled as this.

Healthy? Normal? No coercion? Nonsense.
There is nothing healthy about Iranian public life, or governance. In order for it to maintain itself, the Iranian regime must engage in a concerted, constant effort to coerce and oppress it's people. without this continual pressure, it would cease to exist. That's not strength, it's a fundamental weakness. A free press in Iran would go a long way to destroying the ability of the regime to coerce and repress - without which it simply cannot govern.

So you're saying that Israeli press freedom is like that of Germany during its fascist past?
