The troll garbage derailing this thread reminds me of Rush Limbaugh defending the Lord's Resistance Army this past week. A combination of complete ignorance and partisan desperation.

The desperation of some Americans to graft this into their party politics narrative is palpable, and also easy enough to do if pressed. The Republican wars of the past decade involved long-term occupation and have proved to be hugely expensive failures that have completely destroyed American moral credibility and seriously questioned American military superiority.

The Obama-era engagements, which have so far resulted or assisted in the deaths of Osama Bin Laden and Muamar Gaddafi respectively, have been limited, cheap, and successful in their stated aims. The stated aims of Bush-era invasions proved to be either overt lies or impossible, and were abandoned in short order.

Insofar is this story is even about America (it isn't) or has anything to do with the political partisanship that obsesses the most shallow and stupid of people (it doesn't), it explodes the myth of Republican expertise in defense and foreign affairs. They have been completely discredited as naifs.
