Finally stumbled across an "occupy" movement in my city. Some nice looking kids camped out, slogans and signs. I don't think this is really the solution as far as curtailing financial-sector meddling in politics and the subversion of democracy. I think people should get a little more extreme.

Take a cue from the Greeks. Freak out the whole global market by making your government hold a referendum. Scare 'em with democracy. Or rush the barricades, either way.

They have a point. Companies that treat their employees like chattel tend to breed resentment for the boss man.

There is actually a bit of truth to this ad. According to Marx( I guess) if employees don't feel they are being taken care of, they might undo the social contract. Not my idea, laugh all you want.

But there is a hard to argue feeling that while the Soviets were looking, Americanism at least put up lip service for people on the lower end. Now, in the words of Bowie and Reznor, no one needs anyone, they don't even just pretend.

Real change comes only from the ballot box or the barrel of a gun.

You're going to need better violence than this to justify shooting cops. The only place the right has generally agreed that shooting cops is justified is when they come not to make you quiet, but to make you incapable of resisting( well, harder, anyways). There is apparently an emerging consensus among the under40 gun crowd that cops kicking in the door when you know you aren't a player is cause to light them up, and I approve.

We all draw our lines. Don't be mistaken that these repulsive suburbanites do not also have breakpoints. It's an interesting world where everybody else is spineless.

Oh, and hippies killing cops without good reason would bring support for the police among the gunners. They would also switch those on that side from a moderate to an active threat. Because the pool of gun owners is so vast and diverse, a hundred million of them would indeed guffaw and hate from a distance.

It's the other few tens of millions you've got to worry about. Just as soon ad the OWS types begin to inhabit the same category that niggers and commies used to, well, it's going to become dangerous to protest in a way that will make them pine for pepper spray.
